The Axis hot wire foam cutters
can cut a variety of foam products.
Examples of extruded foam include Foamular
(pink foam manufactured by Owens Corning) and Styrofoam (blue foam manufactured by Dow
Chemical Company). Expanded foam (or "Bead board") is similar to foam used for
foam cups, packaging, etc.
All of our Axis and Industrial models will cut "foamed" products such as:
extruded polystyrene foam, expanded polystyrene foam, polyethylene foam,
polyurethane (soft, sponge type
foam).
All hot wire cutters (including our competitors) are not able to cut closed cell foams or
plastics (such as Plexiglas, PVC sheeting or Sintra/Celtec type products), Urethane boards
(such as SignFoam), or rubber.
Read our "Talk to the Expert"
column to read interesting facts about foam.
