The Standard series  (see photo)

The Standard series models (previously called "Standard" models) are available in 4 different size configurations. Whether cutting packaging, foam letters, logos or graphics, the Axis Standard series of computerized hot wire foam cutters are ideal. Although the Standard series are the smallest members of the Axis foam cutting machinery, they are as accurate and reliable as the larger models.
AxisCraftsman 282 hot wire foam cutter
The Axis Standard series cutters are also an excellent way to get into the rapidly expanding business of custom EPS cutting and converting. The Standard series are ideal for shops that do not require the ability to load and cut very large blocks of foam or require the need for the optional turntable and shapeable wire tools.

The Standard series machines are designed and built upon a 3 layer composite bed. The outside surfaces are finished with a coated aluminium laminate. The micro stepping motors have proven themselves through thousands of hours of flawless cutting. The entire frame is produced of precision milled, anodized aluminum.

A motor driven wire trolley on each side of the Axis connects your cutting wire through the use of our automatic wire tensioner. This wire tensioner ensures that the wire tension is maintained at all times to allow the Axis to achieve perfect results every time. Cooling fans are mounted on each side of the wire to control the temperature of the wire on the outside of your foam (this allows you to achieve very high quality, sharp cuts). The combination of the wire cooling fan and our own tensioning device is exclusive to the Axis hot wire foam cutters and allows your Axis to achieve an outstanding cut quality.

The Standard series are designed as tabletop models and should be set upon a table (not supplied). The Standard series machines are delivered with 4 aluminum weight blocks to be used as supports to hold the foam board in place.

The Axis Craftsman, Pro and Industrial series all share a common Windows™ based software interface. This software allows complete control over the cutting process including the placement of linking lines to connect your objects for cutting. The electronic controller is connected to your PC via the Com1 or 2 serial port and drives the X and Y axis. The wire temperature is electronically controlled and is adjustable through a front knob and a LED numeric display showing wire voltage.
